Satellite Voice and Push-to-Talk Solutions provide reliable, high-performance connectivity

Where land-based communications do not exist or when they are congested, damaged, or destroyed, count on Ligado MSAT services to get the job done. Search and rescue teams; police and firefighters; maritime and fishing fleets; work crews and drivers for utilities, railroads, trucking, and off-road racing teams, all rely on Ligado MSAT Services to stay in touch when communications are critical.

MSATe Mobile Satellite Radio

The Ligado MSATe Mobile Satellite Radio is a powerful and flexible communications tool that works where you do. Based on terrestrial radio standards, it easily integrates into land mobile radio (LMR) networks, extending the reach of existing networks, and providing a cost-effective alternative to new deployments in remote or temporary locations. Dual mode operation allows traditional telephony service to operate in tandem with Push-To-Talk (PTT) service, so customers never miss a call.

Building on a legacy of reliable and robust MSAT connectivity, the MSATe Mobile Satellite Radio is fully interoperable with all MSAT radios, talkgroups and services, including our Ligado SMART™ program talkgroups for public safety interoperability. Available in fixed, mobile, and maritime configurations, it provides customers, including utilities, public safety entities, commercial transportation providers, fisheries and off-road racers, PTT service when land based networks are damaged, congested or simply don’t exist.

MSAT Push-To-Talk (PTT)

MSAT PTT is a real-time, voice-based service that provides point-to-multipoint and point-to-point communication at the push of a button, simply, quickly, reliably, and affordably. Communicate with up to 9,999 group members using as many as 15 point-to-multipoint talkgroups. Private mode PTT is available for one-to-one conversations as well. Coverage is flexible—choose from regional, nationwide, or full North American reach.

MSAT Telephony Voice

Sending and receiving voice calls is as easy as using any regular phone. Each MSATe has a local 10-digit number and can dial normally to reach any phone anywhere in the world. A cost-effective North American dialing plan is available as well as optional toll-free numbers, and the MSATe is Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) compatible. Whether it’s a call to a land line, mobile phone, or a satellite phone, Ligado MSAT services keep customers connected.

MSAT Tracking

MSAT Tracking enables land mobile and maritime fleet managers to pin-point the location of their MSATe radio users at the click of a button. GPS coordinates are transmitted whenever a user pushes the radio’s PTT button, and every minute during a telephone call. In addition, a dispatcher or fleet manager can poll an MSATe radio for GPS location information any time the radio is powered on.

SMART™ Talkgroups

Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroups (SMART™) is Ligado’s nationwide and regional program of interoperable public safety talkgroups operating on the Ligado mobile satellite services network. These groups enable critical, interoperable communications among homeland security officials, law enforcement, emergency responders, and public safety officials from various departments and agencies across the United States. SMART™ was pioneered by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and its programs leverage the MSAT PTT service. Managed by federal, state, and local agencies, its talkgroups are immune to terrestrial network congestion or damage caused by natural disaster situations.

Coverage

Powered by the Ligado SkyTerra 1 satellite, MSAT services cover North and Central America, Northern South America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and coastal waters.
