Celebrating the Women of Ligado Networks

By Tamara Casey and Valerie Green

The past year has been remarkable for Ligado in many ways as we focus on ambitious new initiatives and move our company in exciting new directions.  During this time, we have succeeded by innovating each day. From the engineering team to the marketing department, our collective work on the development of our country’s first-ever satellite-terrestrial network would not be possible without daring to do what has never been done before.

Innovation and teamwork don’t happen by accident or in a vacuum. As the CTO and CLO of a tech company in a highly regulated industry, we know all too well the importance of balancing the drive to innovate quickly while also building consensus. At our core, we believe that real innovation comes when you bring different ideas and ways of working together. You can’t achieve transformative change if you only have one demographic sitting around the table.

At Ligado, our diversity is a great strength.  Three of our six executive seats are held by women, which is unusual for a technology company.  And all across our company, you will see leaders who are empowering a new generation of female talent and demonstrating that our services work better when they are designed and delivered by a diverse group of people.  You’ll see women supporting each other and advancing the ideals of an inclusive, collaborative workplace that also encourages…and rewards…independence and ingenuity.  There’s a passion for the work and a mutual respect for one another.

And so, on International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the successes of our female peers and colleagues, and to celebrate the incredible work all women do, not only in technology, but in every industry.  We are proud to be part of this team and are committed to growing it, supporting it and making it stronger.

As we look to the year ahead, we are so excited to be part of a company that sees diversity and equality as essential to innovation and success.
